I went to my fist auction today.
And everyone knew it was my first. Apparently, when they ask you how much it should go for, you aren't supposed to yell it out. ^__^;;;
They were selling things from Norma Jean Nickle's house. I didn't know her, but she was a local citizen who died of old age, at the ripe old age of 90.
The reason for the auction is that her children are fighting over her estate.
Horrible, isn't it? Family shouldn't be torn about buy something so idiotic. It's called sharing asswipes.
I had loads of fun, talked to lots of people and had a good time. I haven't been out of the house and had a good time like that in ages.
But the Mnenites (I didn't even know we had Mnenites in my town!) kept staring at me. I told them to knock it off. Apparently, they believe women should be quiet, demure and have their entire body covered.
All of which I did not. XD
I had a bitchin' time.
Of course, I fell asleep as soon as I got home. -_-;
Let me tell you what I got.
1.) A loosely knit purple afgan. (I liiike it. It's cuddly.)-$6
2.)A beautiful spice jar with a painting of an orange butterfly.-$10
3.) What I really wanted (My dad and I looked around.) A box full of scarfs, ties and other sort of things like that.-My dad paid $20 for it, just for me. ♥ It's full of the most beautiful things and they still have a scent that isn't of the auction house.
Mrs.Norma Jean Nickles, you had style and I hope everything works out for your family.
I met the infamous Jenna, who everyone in my family knows. She owns a small book store in the back of the auction house called Sun Coast Books.She totally pwns my ass. She's so awesome! I bought books. ^__^ (You know, those things I've been trying to get my dad to take me out to buy since forever?)
I got four books. (am so not bragging.)
1.) The Journals of Sylvia Plath (when I get back to school, my English teacher is going to hate me.
2.)Written with Love, a collection of love letters written by famous people. (including Eva Peron, Geogre Benard Shaw and Lord Byron)
3.) The Snow Fox, 'a sweeping love story of epic range and depth about three characters raised in a Heian world of high culture and artistry whose shimmering fabric is soon to be torn by a savage civil war.' It takes place in Japan. XP
4.) The Cybernetic Brains, a book from the 50's about a "Utopia" that is run by the brains of geniuses who were promised eternal life. The brains are alive, enslaved and they're about to revolt.
I wanted tons more books but I didn't have enough monies. ;_;
I'm also trying the whole 'keeping a written journal that is actually about my real life' thing again. I'll tell you how that turns out.
Monk Out
(Oh and I have a thing for quotes. I'm going to start leaving one at the end of my journal entries (when I can rememeber.))
